Polypave International

Polypave International Pty Ltd (Polypave® “PI”) is an innovative Australian company that holds the Trademark, IP, and the exclusive licence to manufacture, market, sell, distribute, and apply Polypave® globally to the infrastructure industry for roads, rail, ports, and airports.

PI has been independently assessed and approved by the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) as part of the National Transportation Research Organisation (NTRO) has confirmed that PI is 750 times more impermeable to water ingress in pavements than both cement treated and manufactured gravel pavements.

ARRB testing has confirmed that PI treated pavements are 285% less capillary rise prone and 275% less water absorption that manufactured gravel pavements, and 30% less capillary rise prone and 33% less water absorption than cement treated pavements.

PI is a groundbreaking innovation in road construction being a non-toxic liquid polymer that plays a pivotal role in future-proofing roads against the challenges posed by climate change. This has been proven for over a decade by successful projects delivered in Australia, Asia, and Europe.

In an era marked by rapid urbanisation and growing concerns about sustainability, it is crucial that we embrace innovative solutions that address the pressing issues of modern transportation while fostering environmental resilience.

The notable advantages of PI is the ability to prevent water penetration, reducing the formation of potholes and pavement deterioration, particularly related to climate change and flood events.

Other characteristics of PI making it more beneficial than traditional road construction materials and construction methods include:

Enhanced Durability:

PI modified materials offer superior resistance to cracking and weathering, resulting in longer-lasting roads.

Reduced Maintenance:

The increased durability of PI treated materials reduces the need for frequent maintenance and repairs.

Climate Resilience:

PI is better equipped to withstand extreme weather conditions including prolonged flood events making roads more resilient to climate change.

Enhanced Load-Bearing Capacity:

PI has been proven under continuous heavy traffic loads on major highways, regional and remote roads even under flood events.

Reduced Cracking:

PI binders help minimize the occurrence of cracks known as ‘micro-cracking’, extending the road's lifespan due to reducing water ingress into the pavement.

Environmental Sustainability:

PI cab incorporate recycled pavement materials, reducing truck movements reducing the environmental impact of road construction.

Energy Efficiency:

The production and application of polymer-based materials typically require less energy compared to traditional materials in the quarrying, crushing, haulage, and pavement construction phases.

Cost-Effectiveness:

Despite initial higher costs, rapid construction of pavements of up 6000m2 of finished pavement per day with an extended lifespan and reduced maintenance make PI cost-effective overall. This allows for ‘opportunity benefits’ of being able to deliver additional PI pavements using the construction team and equipment.

Rapid Construction:

PI treated materials using deep lift stabilisation methodology have high production outcomes, shorter curing times, allowing for faster road construction than traditional construction methods. PI pavements can be trafficked at the end of the day’s construction.

Versatility:

PI can be used in various infrastructure types, from highways, regional and remote roads, to rail, airports, ports, hardstands.

Road Safety Enhancement:

Reduced pavement cracking and maintenance contribute to safer road conditions for the travelling public.
